Alex Thayer, LDO, COT, ABOC, NCLEC
Alex is a long time Maynard resident and is happy to bring the eye care profession back to Maynard. He has been Clinical Director of two ophthalmology practices, where he assisted on over 2000 cataract surgeries, performed over 8000 eye exams and started two contact lens practices. As a father of two children, he is most excited about the clinical trial results of Corneal Refractive Therapy and their ramifications that may finally offer a treatment for the progression of childhood myopia.
Alex has been an adjunct professor at the Benjamin Franklin Institute, Boston, MA teaching students in the Opticianry program. He is a member of both the Opticians Association of Massachusetts, and the Opticians Association of America.
Alex has a life-long passion for music and theater, received his M.F.A. in Acting from Florida State University, and has also worked as a professional drummer in Seattle, Washington. He can sometimes be found with other local musicians playing music downtown – and yes, he does play the guitars hanging on the wall of LOOK!
